Job summary

Nashua School District is seeking a School-Based Behavior Technician to support students with behavioral and developmental needs at Nashua High School North for the 2026-2027 school year.

You will implement BIPs under supervision, provide individual and small-group support, and collaborate with teachers and therapists to foster students' social, communication, and daily living skills in an inclusive classroom setting.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (required).
  • Completion of 40-hour ABA Modules within 90 days of hire.
  • Prior training in non-violent crisis intervention methods preferred.
  • Previous experience working with students with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges is required.
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles and methods.

Responsibilities

  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in the school environment under supervision.
  • Provide one-on-one or small group support to students during academic and non-academic activities.
  • Use evidence-based strategies to teach social, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Collect and record data on student behavior, tracking progress and identifying trends in their progress by assisting teams with graphing the information collected.
  • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to integrate behavior strategies into the classroom setting.
  • Support students by implementing systematic fading supports to increase their independence with various skills in the school environment.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide evidence-based interventions based on the BIP procedures created by the BCBA/Behavior Specialist/Special Ed Teacher.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with other professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide behavior support in both structured classroom settings and unstructured environments.
  • Maintain student confidentiality and ensure adherence to all school policies and regulations.
  • Assumes other special activities and/or responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit according to contract.

Overall Responsibilities

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate School-Based Behavior Technician to support students with behavioral and developmental needs in a school environment. The Behavior Technician will work closely with Special Education teams to implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs), support students in developing critical academic, social, and communication skills, and help manage challenging behaviors in the classroom setting.

Responsibilities
  • Implement individualized behavior intervention plans (BIPs) in the school environment under the supervision of a BCBA/Special Ed teacher/ Behavior Specialist.
  • Provide one-on‑one or small group support to students during academic and non‑academic activities.
  • Use evidence‑based strategies to teach social, communication, and daily living skills.
  • Collect and record data on student behavior, tracking progress and identifying trends in their progress by assisting teams with graphing the information collected.
  • Work closely with teachers, special education staff, and other school professionals to integrate behavior strategies into the classroom setting.
  • Support students by implementing systematic fading supports to increase their independence with various skills in the school environment.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide evidence‑based interventions based on the BIP procedures created by the BCBA/Behavior Specialist/Special Ed Teacher.
  • Participate in meetings and collaborate with other professionals (e.g., speech therapists, occupational therapists) to ensure coordinated care.
  • Provide behavior support in both structured classroom settings and unstructured environments (e.g., recess, lunch, transitions between classes).
  • Maintain student confidentiality and ensure adherence to all school policies and regulations.
  • Assumes other special activities and/or responsibilities as assigned by the principal or designee for the purpose of ensuring the efficient and effective functioning of the work unit according to contract.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • High school diploma or equivalent (required)
  • Completion of 40-hour ABA Modules within 90 days of hire
  • Prior training in non‑violent crisis intervention methods preferred
  • Previous experience working with students with autism, developmental disabilities, or behavioral challenges is required
  • Knowledge of applied behavior analysis principles and methods.
  • Strong communication skills to work effectively with students, teachers, and other school staff.
  • Ability to remain calm, patient, and flexible in challenging situations.
  • Passion for working with children and supporting their academic and behavioral development.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team in a collaborative school setting.
  • Ability to assist with physical activities such as sitting on the floor, standing for extended periods, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to respond to student behaviors in a safe and effective manner.
