Job summary

Multnomah ESD is seeking a Behavior Support Facilitator to join the Student Services team in Portland. The BSF provides 1:1 adult support across the school day, implementing behavioral, medical, and instructional plans while assisting teachers with instruction and interventions.

The role emphasizes collaboration with teachers, behavior consultants and administrators, using evidence-based strategies to support students with disabilities and improve daily living and academic outcomes.

Qualifications

• Daily and consistent attendance and punctuality.
• Effective verbal and written communication with student, staff and parents.
• Exercise careful judgment, diplomacy and tact in the performance of all duties.
• Ability to make sound emergency or crisis decisions and effectively work with students in a high stress environment.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Responsibilities

• Prepare instructional and behavioral materials for student learning.
• Use behavioral strategies to teach social behaviors.
• Utilize de-escalation and crisis minimization techniques daily.
• Assist students individually or in groups with behavioral strategies and goals.
• Collaborate with teachers, leaders and other staff.
• Perform health procedures as directed by a health professional.
• Assist students with adaptive and self-care needs to maximize independence.
• Communicate progress with teachers and staff regularly.
• Gather and prepare data on student performance for progress reports.
