Job summary

Seven Oak Middle School in Lebanon, Oregon, is seeking a Behavior Support Professional to assist in data collection, monitoring of behavior support services, and the implementation of specialized learning techniques and behavioral activities for students with mild to severe needs.

You will help model positive behavior strategies, collaborate with staff, and support the development and execution of Individual Education Plans while maintaining a safe environment.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Criminal history clearance.
• Demonstrated knowledge via a formal state or local academic assessment.
• Demonstrated competence of district required training activities OR equivalent training or experience as determined by the Director of Special Education (may include CPI or other Physical Restraint Training).
• May be required to obtain an Oregon Type 10 Driver Certification, which requires a valid driver's license.

Responsibilities

• Assist district behavior specialist and/or building administrator with data collection, and evaluating the efficacy of behavioral plans.
• Implement behavioral strategies as an intervention tool prior to developing a Behavioral Support Plan.
• Maintain behavior data and data entry into the tracking system.
• Assist with writing behavior components of the IEP in cooperation with other staff and parents.
• Assist in developing and carrying out individualized programs of instruction and support under the teacher's supervision.
• Carry out program activities in conjunction with the student’s IEP and supervision of staff.
• Participate in trainings to learn new behavioral intervention strategies.
• Provide a safe and secure environment for the student.
• Participate in staffing or parent meetings as directed.
• May transport students under Oregon Type 10 Driver Certification.
• Assist on field trips and community-based training as needed.
• Assist parents and community members as needed.
• Engage in staff development activities and communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff.
• Lifts, moves, or restrains a student as required; move students in wheelchairs on level surfaces.
