Job summary

Paw Paw Public School District is seeking a Med/Behavioral Paraprofessional for the Behavior Team at the Early Elementary level. This full-time/hourly role supports students with behavioral needs, assists with de-escalation, and collaborates with teachers and families.

Starting pay is $17.57 per hour, with benefits per the PPESPA contract. Working hours are 8:20 a.m. – 4:05 p.m. on the school calendar. Location: Paw Paw Early Elementary, grades Young 5s-2nd.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma and/or Associate Degree.
• Passing score on ETS Parapro Assessment (460 or higher).
• Passing score on WorkKeys Assessment.
• Passing MTTC in relevant subject areas.
• CPI Certification (Preferred).
• CPR/First Aid Certification (Preferred).

Responsibilities

• Support students with behavioral supports throughout the day, including de-escalation while maintaining student dignity.
• Provide behavior support during unstructured times (before/after school, hallways, etc.).
• Maintain composure in stressful situations with a caring, enthusiastic attitude toward students.
• Communicate effectively with teachers, parents, and staff; provide and receive feedback.
• Maintain confidential student discipline records, inputting data and creating reports.
• Proactively prevent behavior issues by planning, organizing and modeling good work habits.
• Handle student discipline in a fair, consistent and collaborative manner.
