Job summary

TrulyHired is seeking a dedicated Teacher, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) to support K-5 students in a Florida district. The role involves delivering specially designed instruction, creating and implementing IEPs, and fostering a respectful, inclusive classroom environment.

Qualifications

  • Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education preferred.
  • Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.
  • Experience with K-5 students is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Designs and implements Specially Designed Instruction, accommodations and supports per state standards.
  • Develops and implements IEP plans with goals, services and present levels.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students with disabilities.
  • Employs diverse teaching techniques to meet IEP goals.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and maintains records.
  • Manages classroom behavior using evidence-based interventions and supports.
  • Communicates with parents and staff about student progress.
  • Maintains health, safety and confidentiality of records and materials.
  • Provides oversight to paraprofessionals and attends trainings to enhance ESE knowledge.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Summary

The Teacher, Exceptional Student Education (ESE), is responsible for the instruction of all areas of Exceptional Student Education in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities
  • Designs and implements appropriate Specially Designed Instruction, accommodations, and supports assigned in accordance with state standards, district curriculum, and students' needs.
  • Develops and implements Individual Educational Plans (IEP) plans for students to include present levels of educational performance, special education needs, instructional goals and objectives, and the special education and related services required to meet those goals.
  • Creates a positive educational climate for students with disabilities to learn in an atmosphere of respect and rapport.
  • Employs various teaching techniques, methods, and principles of learning to enable students to meet their Individual Education Plan (IEP) goals.
  • Observes and evaluates student performance and mastery of standards, monitors student assessment data, and maintains student grades and attendance.
  • Manages student behavior in the classroom by utilizing effective classroom management strategies, implementing positive behavior supports and evidence-based interventions, and invoking appropriate disciplinary procedures.
  • Communicates with parents and school/district personnel regarding student progress and encourages parental involvement.
  • Takes all responsible precautions to provide for the health and safety of students and to protect equipment, materials, and facilities.
  • Provides oversite to paraprofessionals
  • Appropriately maintains and secures confidential records, inquiries, data and full time equivalency (FTE) documentation.
  • Attends workshops and trainings to continue to build in Exceptional Student Education knowledge and skills.
  • Maintains appropriate certifications and professional development hours as required.
  • Performs any other duties as assigned.

Certificates/Licenses/Registrations

Florida Professional Educator Certificate in Exceptional Student Education preferred. Eligibility for Florida Temporary Certificate required.
