Job summary

Albertina Kerr is seeking a Behavior Specialist to support individuals with complex behavioral needs in Washington County, including Beaverton, Hillsboro, Cornelius, and Forest Grove. You will design, implement, and monitor Positive Behavior Support Plans while providing coaching to staff and collaborating with families and interdisciplinary teams.

Qualifications

  • BCBA certification or eligible with PBS experience in IDD.
  • Master's degree plus PBS experience required; alternative pathways available.
  • Bachelor's degree with PBS experience; no-degree pathway also accepted with letters.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments to identify causes of behaviors.
  • Develop and monitor Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and data systems.
  • Collaborate with individuals, families, staff, managers, and ISP team members for person-centered supports.
  • Provide training and coaching on PBSPs, strategies, and OIS principles; model best practices.
  • Deliver direct skill-building on emotional regulation, social skills, conflict resolution, and independence.
  • Consult with program leadership on behavioral concerns and modifications.
  • Ensure compliance with behavior-related requirements and state standards.
  • Attend staff meetings and support ongoing review of interventions.

You will partner closely with individuals, families, and interdisciplinary teams to design, implement, and monitor Positive Behavior Support Plans that promote safety, dignity, independence, and an enhanced quality of life.This role is ideal for a professional who is passionate about behavioral health, skilled in functional assessment and staff coaching, and motivated to create meaningful, lasting change. **Primary areas this position will work in is Washington County: Beaverton, Hillsboro, Cornelius, and Forest Grove.****ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:*** Conduct comprehensive functional behavioral assessments to identify the causes and functions of challenging behaviors.* Develop, implement, monitor, and update Positive Behavior Support Plans (PBSPs) and related data-tracking systems.* Collaborate with individuals, families, program staff, managers, and ISP team members to ensure consistent, person-centered behavioral supports.* Provide training and coaching to staff on PBSPs, behavioral strategies, and Oregon Intervention System (OIS) principles; model appropriate interactions and reinforce best practices.* Deliver direct skill-building support to individuals, focusing on emotional regulation, social skills, conflict resolution, and independence.* Consult with program leadership on behavioral concerns and recommended environmental or systemic modifications.* Monitor compliance with behavior-related requirements and state Psychiatric Review Board standards.* Attend program staff meetings and support ongoing review and application of behavioral interventions.* Perform other related duties as assigned.**Benefits*** Paid medical, dental, and vision employee benefits* Paid basic life & accident insurance* Paid internal training and career development* Paid holidays and generous time off* 401(k) retirement savings plan with up to 4% employer match* 24-hour Employee Assistance Plan (EAP) that provides resources for everything from mental health to pet insurance and financial counselling## Qualifications### **Qualifications****Candidates must meet one of the following:*** **BCBA certification** and 1+ year of experience providing Positive Behavior Support (PBS) services to individuals with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities (I/DD).* **Master's degree** in Psychology, Sociology, Human Services, Education, Social Work, or a related field, plus 1+ year of PBS experience supporting individuals with I/DD.* **Bachelor's degree** in a related field, plus 3+ years of PBS experience supporting individuals with I/DD.* **No degree pathway:** 6+ years of professional PBS experience obtained prior to January 1, 2023, and three approved reference letters from case management entities for FBAs or PBSPs authored by the applicant.**Additional Requirements*** QMHA certified or eligible to obtain certification.* Ability to complete required minimum 12 hours of continuing education in Positive Behavior Support and related topics every 2 years.* Proficiency with Microsoft Office and the ability to learn additional systems and technology.* Ability to meet background check, and reference check requirements, and organization's driving requirements of having a current and valid driver's license and no more than two driving infractions in the last two years.**Preferred*** Oregon Intervention System (OIS) Trainer certification.
