Job summary

Albertina Kerr in Washington County, Hillsboro, OR is seeking a Skills Trainer to support youth through ISPs and treatment objectives. Qualifications

• QMHA credentialing eligibility per Oregon rules.
• Bachelor's degree in human services, social sciences, or related field, or 3 years of related work experience.
• Experience with youth in clinical, educational, or social services setting preferred.

Responsibilities

• Teach and reinforce life skills, coping strategies, and independent living skills.
• Support youth in ISP/ISSP goals.
• Provide services in youth group homes, family homes, schools, and community settings.
• Collaborate with guardians, residential staff, school personnel, and clinicians.
• Implement therapeutic and behavioral support strategies under clinical guidance.
• Document progress, interventions, and outcomes on schedule.
• Assist youth with community engagement, appointments, and activities.
• Identify safety concerns and respond during crises.
• Participate in team meetings, supervision, and professional development.
• Provide after-hours crisis support as part of on-call rotation.

As a Skills Trainer you will collaborate with youth group home staff and families in Washington County to support skill development aligned with individualized support plans (ISPs) and treatment objectives for the people we support. This role offers meaningful and engaging opportunities to enhance both mental health and life skills to support youth in leading self-determined lives. You will deliver services across multiple settings, including home and community environments.

This position requires a flexible work schedule, including evenings and weekends at Hillsboro/Beaverton/ Forest Grove locations.

Qualifications: QUALIFICATIONS:

• Eligible to become credentialed as a Qualified Mental Health Associate (QMHA), meeting Oregon Administrative Rules (OAR) requirements through either a bachelor's degree in human services, social sciences, or closely related field, or relevant, three-years of work experience.
• One to three years of experience working with youth in a clinical, educational, or social services setting; experience with mental health and/or intellectual and developmental disabilities (I/DD) preferred.
• Strong working knowledge of youth development and common mental health concerns with a passion for providing trauma-informed and client-centered services.
• Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with a multidisciplinary team, including supervisors, clinical staff, school personnel, guardians, and group home staff.
• Demonstrated ability to work independently, make sounds judgements, and adapt to diverse situations.
• Understanding of appropriate interventions and activities based on youth’s developmental stage.
• Ability to lift 50 lbs. and perform physical restraints as needed.
• Ability to meet all background check and credentialling requirements.
• Ability to build appropriate relationships and relate effectively with children, young people, internal and external parties.
• Must possess a valid driver’s license and meet and maintain eligibility to drive on Kerr business in accordance with Kerr’s Driving Policy.
• A reliable means or methods of transportation to provide in-person services at a variety of Kerr or client sites, during the regular workday and when on-call.
