Summary Of Purpose
This position is responsible for promoting the use of behavior management strategies among teaching staff, support staff, and administration to support student achievement, providing behavioral assistance/support, and other tasks as assigned by supervisors.

Essential Functions

  1. Serves as a liaison between school/district behavioral initiatives and school-based implementation/support for District personnel.
  2. Develops and offers behavior-focused professional development for District personnel, including establishing classroom behavior plans, responding to behavioral crisis situations, and creating data-driven behavior plans.
  3. Collaborates with teachers to integrate behavior management techniques.
  4. Provides feedback on observed classroom lessons and models behavior intervention strategies for teachers/paraprofessionals.
  5. Supports teachers in meeting the behavioral needs of students with enthusiasm and energy.
  6. Assists administrators and teachers in implementing trauma-informed practices in the classroom.
  7. Creates processes to support all students effectively.
  8. Communicates applicable laws, regulations, and guidelines.
  9. Ensures resources are available for carrying out behavior plans.
  10. Gathers and disseminates information relevant to behavior plans/interventions.
  11. Leads the building crisis response team during student crises and conducts debriefings afterward.
  12. Participates in workshops and meetings as required.
  13. Engages with community partners to support students and families.
  14. Builds a strong coaching relationship with colleagues.
  15. Maintains confidentiality.
  16. Performs other duties as assigned by supervisors.

Scope and Impact

This role involves diversified operating procedures with internal contacts including the Board and district employees, and external contacts with organizations, vendors, parents, and the community.

Minimum Requirements

Board Certified Behavior Analyst certificate through the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB) or a current license as a Behavior Specialist in Pennsylvania. Prior experience in teaching or leading employee development is preferred.

Physical and Mental Job Requirements

  • Physically active, with standing and walking for extended periods.
  • Occasional bending, crouching, twisting, reaching, and grasping.
  • Some lifting may be required.
  • Ability to communicate detailed information in writing and orally.
  • Manual dexterity for keyboarding.
  • Close visual acuity for data analysis and reading.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work with individuals and groups of students and colleagues.
  • Proficient time management skills.
