Job summary

APTS® seeks a Behavior Specialist to support students with developmental and behavioral needs in school settings. You will conduct functional assessments, design and monitor behavior intervention plans, and collaborate with teachers and the Educational Supervisor to set IEP-related goals and prepare progress reports.

You will also train staff on data collection methods and behavior plan implementation, working closely with families, LEA, and other professionals to ensure continuity of services.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a related field.
  • Eligible to sit for BCBA/BCaBA exam within 9 months of employment.
  • Minimum of 1 year experience working with students with developmental and/or emotional disabilities preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments, records reviews, and clinical behavioral trials to develop behavior intervention plans.
  • Design data collection instruments; summarize and analyze behavioral data independently and with Data Analysts.
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans; work directly with students in routine and crisis conditions.
  • Collaborate with teachers and Educational Supervisor to devise behavior goals for IEPs and participate in IEP meetings.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, physicians, LEA, and related service providers to ensure continuity of services.
  • Conduct initial and ongoing training of staff in data collection methods and behavior plan implementation.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis or related field
BCBA/BCaBA exam eligibility within 9 months
1 year experience with students with developmental or emotional disabilities

APTS® is searching for an Behavior Specialist.
Employee’s duties include, but are not limited to:
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments, records reviews, and clinical behavioral trials in order to develop behavior intervention plans
  • Design data collection instruments; summarize and analyze behavioral data independently and via the assistance of Data Analysts
  • Implement and monitor students’ behavior intervention plans, to include directly working with students in school during routine and crisis conditions
  • Collaborate with educational department members (i.e., teachers, Educational Supervisor) in order to devise behavior goals for IEP, complete relevant parts of progress reports, exit summaries, and transition reports; and participate in IEP meetings
  • For all students on the behavior analyst’s caseload, the specialist will consult with the student’s parents, teachers, physicians, LEA, related service providers, and any other relevant professionals as needed to ensure continuity of services and care
  • Conduct initial and ongoing training of the relevant staff in individualized data collection methods and behavior plan implementation for each student
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a field related to Behavior Analysis from an accredited college or university required
  • Eligible to sit for the BCBA/BCaBA exam within 9 months of employment preferred. Testing eligibility can be waived if currently enrolled in a Master’s level program in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a field related to Behavior Analysis from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with students with developmental and/or emotional disabilities preferred
