Job summary

Alternative Paths Training School is seeking a Behavior Specialist to support students with developmental and emotional disabilities in a school setting. You will conduct functional assessments, design and monitor behavior plans, and collaborate with teachers and families to ensure effective interventions.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree required.
  • Eligible to sit for the BCBA/BCaBA exam within 9 months preferred; testing eligibility can be waived if enrolled in a relevant Master’s program.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments and develop behavior intervention plans.
  • Design data collection instruments and summarize behavioral data.
  • Implement and monitor behavior intervention plans in school, including crisis situations.
  • Collaborate with teachers, Educational Supervisor and IEP teams to set goals and complete progress/transition reports.
  • Consult with parents, teachers, physicians and other professionals to ensure continuity of services.
  • Train staff in data collection methods and behavior plan implementation.

APTS® is searching for a Behavior Specialist.
Employee’s Duties Include, But Are Not Limited To
  • Conduct functional behavioral assessments, records reviews, and clinical behavioral trials in order to develop behavior intervention plans
  • Design data collection instruments; summarize and analyze behavioral data independently and via the assistance of Data Analysts
  • Implement and monitor students’ behavior intervention plans, to include directly working with students in school during routine and crisis conditions
  • Collaborate with educational department members (i.e., teachers, Educational Supervisor) in order to devise behavior goals for IEP, complete relevant parts of progress reports, exit summaries, and transition reports; and participate in IEP meetings
  • For all students on the behavior analyst’s caseload, the specialist will consult with the student’s parents, teachers, physicians, LEA, related service providers, and any other relevant professionals as needed to ensure continuity of services and care
  • Conduct initial and ongoing training of the relevant staff in individualized data collection methods and behavior plan implementation for each student
Requirements
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a field related to Behavior Analysis from an accredited college or university required
  • Eligible to sit for the BCBA/BCaBA exam within 9 months of employment preferred. Testing eligibility can be waived if currently enrolled in a Master’s level program in Behavior Analysis, Education, Human Services, or a field related to Behavior Analysis from an accredited college or university
  • Minimum of 1-year experience working with students with developmental and/or emotional disabilities preferred
