Job summary

Pediatric Developmental Services (PDS) is hiring a Behavior Coach to join our staff and work in an amazing school. You will observe and assess student behavior, develop and implement positive behavior plans, and train staff to apply behavioral strategies in classrooms.

Qualifications

  • Possess a master's degree.
  • Have a certification in Special Education, school psychology or social work.
  • Have experience working with students with challenging behaviors.
  • Possess skills in conducting Functional Behavior Assessments and developing and implementing Functional Behavior Plans.
  • Possess skills to effectively manage problem student's behavior and train staff / teachers to do the same.

Responsibilities

  • Observe students in the classroom, collect data, and make recommendations for Functional Behavior Assessments.
  • Participate as a member of the IEP Team to conduct Functional Behavior Assessments and develop Functional Behavior Plans.
  • Document present levels of behavior performance as requested.
  • Consult with general and special education staff and recommend strategies to implement the Functional Behavior Plan.
  • Provide in-service on positive behavior strategies.
  • Act as a resource for campus staff on modifying classroom instruction and developing behavior intervention strategies for staff to employ with individual students.
  • Consult with parents regarding their student's behavior, coordinating school interventions with parental interventions at home, and keeping parents apprised of the student's progress.
  • Work with various teams regarding training, development of programs, placement alternatives and other interventions.
  • Maintain a log of contacts with students and staff, interventions employed and the result of those interventions.
  • Other duties related to behavior intervention as assigned by supervisors.

    interventions at home, and keeping parents apprised of the student's progress.
    7. Upon request, work with the dean of Students, student study teams, threat assessment teams and other
    intervention personnel regarding training, development of programs, placement alternatives and other
    interventions to ensure that student behaviors are appropriately addressed.
    8. Maintain a log of contacts with students and staff, interventions employed and the result of those
    interventions.
    9. Other duties related to behavior intervention as assigned by supervisors.
