Job summary

The Jewish Board seeks a Behavior Intervention Specialist, Level 1 to design, implement, and monitor behavior management programs for up to 35 individuals across units, IRAs, and day programs. You will collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, provide training to DSPs and families, and ensure timely documentation in line with OPWDD regulations.

Travel between sites is routine, and you will participate in audits while maintaining data-driven BSPs and ongoing progress reviews to optimize outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in a clinical or related field with training in assessment and behavior support plan development
  • BACB certification or NYS LBA license or related OPWDD-approved degree/licensure
  • Experience with FBA, BSP development and data-driven interventions
  • Ability to train and mentor DSPs and interdisciplinary teams
  • Knowledge of OPWDD regulations and NYS policies

Responsibilities

  • Administer and interpret cognitive, social/motivational and adaptive living skills.
  • Conduct Functional Behavior Assessments to identify triggers and patterns of behavior.
  • Develop Individualized Behavior Support Plans per OPWDD regulations and best practices.
  • Collaborate with IDT to ensure consistency in interventions.
  • Train DSPs, families, and staff on behavior support strategies.
  • Collect data and summarize progress; adjust plans as needed.
  • Maintain caseload up to 35 individuals and provide coverage when needed.
  • Travel between units, IRAs, day programs and in the community.
