Job summary

ICL in Bronx, NY is seeking a Behavior Intervention Specialist-ID540503 to join the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team. This on-site role reports to licensed psychologists and Area Director, overseeing clinical programming for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities.

Responsibilities include conducting assessments, developing behavior support plans, training staff, monitoring progress, and preparing reports.

Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree in Psychology or related field.

  • BCBA certification preferred.

About the Role

Under the clinical supervision of a licensed psychologist and administrative supervision of the Area Director, the Behavior Intervention Specialist oversees clinical programming for adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. As part of the Interdisciplinary Treatment Team (ITT), this role conducts behavioral assessments, develops behavior support plans, provides staff training, and monitors progress to ensure effective service delivery.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Conduct initial and annual psychological assessments under supervision of the licensed psychologist.
  • Assess individual behavior and implement programs to increase adaptive behaviors and decrease maladaptive behaviors.
  • Develop measurable behavior plans and ensure staff have access to all required materials and documentation.
  • Train staff on behavior support plans and provide continuous feedback and supervision.
  • Monitor program implementation through direct observation, data review, and interviews with staff.
  • Provide monthly progress summaries and prepare annual, semi-annual, and other required reports.
  • Attend ITT, clinical, supervision, and treatment team meetings; report on behavioral progress.
  • Serve as liaison with psychiatrists, completing required documentation for psychiatric consults.
  • Obtain informed consent for behavior plans involving SCIP-R or any strategies involving risk.
  • Prepare and present informed consent materials to families, advocates, or Human Rights Committee.
  • Write psychological reports as needed.
  • Develop outcomes, objectives, and methods for inclusion in the IPP in collaboration with supervising psychologist.
  • Ensure ongoing psychological services are provided to achieve IPP outcomes.
  • Provide in-service training and coaching to residence staff.
  • Assess equipment and supply needs for psychological services and maintain inventory.
  • Submit evaluation summaries, recommendations, and assessments for annual reviews.
  • Participate in case reviews for individuals with behavioral goals or active treatment needs.
  • Develop behavior support plans consistent with rights standards and free from time-out room usage.
  • Review outcome records for individuals with behavioral plans or active interventions.
  • Provide clinical supervision to Non-QIDP staff when necessary.
  • Meet regularly with supervising psychologist for direction and collaboration.
  • Perform all additional duties as assigned by the Area Director.
