Qualifications

• Knowledge of child development and behavior characteristics.
• Behavior management strategies and techniques.
• Basic subjects including arithmetic, grammar, spelling and reading.
• Record-keeping techniques and data entry.
• Computer operations/data entry, word processing, and spreadsheets.
• Evidence Based Practices for children with disabilities.
• Effective interpersonal and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist teachers by reinforcing instruction to whole class, small groups and/or individual students.
• Verbally and physically assist students with adaptive equipment and activities of daily living.
• Administer first aid and monitor medical needs.
• Maintain records and collect data related to student performance and behavior.
• Follow training and participate in safe, supervised physical interventions when necessary.
• Keep learning spaces neat, clean, and safe.
• Supervise students during structured and unstructured times.
• Communicate progress with teachers and staff while maintaining confidentiality.
