Job Summary

Under the supervision of the School Age Site Coordinator, the Group Leader will assist in supervising the program and ensuring a safe, healthy, and constructive environment for all children involved. The Group Leader will uphold the employee code of conduct and reflect the mission of Old Colony Y.

Job Function

Program Responsibilities:

• Help plan, develop and implement curriculum with guidance of Site Coordinator.
• Assist in arranging appearance, decor, and environment of school‑age room.
• Maintain proper behavior of all children at all times.
• Adhere to all OCCS regulations and Old Colony Y policies.
• Assist in preparing breakfast, lunch, and snack for assigned children.
• Maintain children’s files, develop monthly newsletter, organize field trips, and develop and implement age‑appropriate activity plans.
• Assist on field trips and special events to ensure safety.
• Complete necessary paperwork including accident/incident forms, documentation and observation sheets.

Fiscal Responsibilities:

• Help ensure maximum enrollment is achieved.

Facility/Houskeeping Responsibilities:

• Assist in clean‑up of all rooms used in the program.
• Maintain inventory of games, craft supplies, snack supplies, and equipment; report needs to Site Coordinator.
• Ensure indoor/outdoor and vehicle areas are clean and ready for next program.

Interdivision and Community Responsibilities:

• Attend all staff meetings and Y trainings.
• Participate in interdivision job assignments as requested.
• Attend at least 20 hours of annual training required by OCCS.

Requirements

Availability: Must be available to work 6:45 am‑9 am.

• Must be at least 18 years old and have 6 months of school‑age experience.
• Have a high school diploma or equivalent.
• Good interpersonal communication skills.
• Maintain first aid and CPR certificates.
• Evidence of physical examination within last 12 months.
• Negative Mantoux TB test and immunity for measles, mumps, and rubella.
• Ability to sit, stand, bend, lift up to 75 lb on occasion and 40 lb frequently (children) and move intermittently during work hours.
