Job summary

AlphaBEST Education, Inc. in Portsmouth, VA, seeks a site supervisor to lead after-school programs at Simonsdale Elementary and Victory Elementary. The role manages day-to-day operations, schedules, staff, and documentation, ensuring safe, engaging activities and licensing compliance.

You will build strong relationships with families and school staff, mentor your site team, and coordinate curriculum delivery and meals per program requirements.

Qualifications

• Degree in a child-related field with six months of programming experience
• Endorsement or bachelor’s degree in child-related field with one year of programming experience
• 36–72 credit hours in child-related subject and one year of programming experience
• Two years of programming experience with supervisory capacity and an early childhood certificate (30 semester hours)
• Demonstrated team leadership and supervision preferred
• Ability to work in a classroom setting with bending and lifting up to 25 pounds

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day operations of the site: schedules, ratios, staffing, and documentation
• Oversee and facilitate curriculum implementation and ensure activities meet program expectations
• Build a safe and inclusive environment aligned with licensing requirements and AlphaBEST standards
• Make child safety the top priority at all times
• Maintain licensing compliance, documentation, and readiness for inspections
• Track and manage site resources, attendance, and food program requirements
• Supervise and mentor your site team, providing coaching and feedback, and ensuring training requirements are met
• Represent AlphaBEST with professionalism at school and community events
• Build strong relationships with families, school staff, and AlphaBEST leadership to support student success

Job description

Location(s): Simonsdale Elementary School Portsmouth VA and Victory Elementary School Portsmouth VA

Pay: $20.00

Hours: Monday through Friday AM shift 6am-8am PM shift 3:00pm-6pm

Requirements

• A graduate degree in a child related field such as elementary education, nursing, or recreation form a college or university and six months of programming experience
• An endorsement or bachelors degree in a child related field such as elementary education, nursing or recreation form a college or university an done year of programming experience
• 48 semester hours of college credit in a child related subject or CDA or 72 quarter hours of college credit from a college or university of which 12 semester or 18 quarter hours are in a child related subject and one year of programming experience
• Tow years of programming experience with one year in a staff supervisory capacity and at least one year of the following education backgrounds: A one year early childhood certificate from a college or university that consists of at least 30 semester hours
• Demonstrated experience in team leadership and supervision preferred
• Ability to work in a classroom setting with regular bending and lifting (up to 25 pounds)
