Job summary

The Y in Bothell is seeking a dedicated Before & After School Lead to run a licensed program for children, partnering with a Site Coordinator to ensure a safe, engaging environment. You’ll guide activities, supervise kids, and foster a sense of belonging.

Ideal candidates have 1–2 years of experience with children, a high school diploma, and DCYF prerequisites. This is a part-time, in-person role with varied shifts and opportunities for summer hours.

Qualifications

  • 1-2 years’ experience working with children, preferred
  • Meet educational and experience qualifications established by DCYF
  • Have a high school diploma or equivalent
  • Have completed twelve college credits in any one hundred-level or above college coursework within five years of employment
  • Provide documentation of all certification and training requirements established by the DCYF, including position prerequisites, current negative TB test, fully vaccinated for MMR/other required vaccinations*, and portable background check
  • Fluency in second language preferred

  • Lead licensed before and after-school program, working directly with children and supporting site operations

Availability: Monday-Friday; Must be available for shiftsbetween 6:15-9:30 a.m. and 12:30-6:30 p.m.

What you will do at the Y:

As a Before & After School Lead, you'll help lead a licensed before and after-school program, working directly with children while supporting the daily operations of the site. You will partner with the Site Coordinator to create a safe, engaging, and inclusive program for children and families.

Work Schedule

This is an in-person, part-time position working directly with children.

Work hours are a combination of:

  • Morning shifts before school
  • Afternoon shifts after school
  • Full-day shifts (up to 8 hours) on non-school days and during school breaks

Schedules vary based on school start and end times and program needs. Additional hours may be available during the summer through employment at a YMCA Day Camp.

Job duties/Responsibilities
  • Work as part of a supportive team to provide a high-quality program.
  • Implement and lead games, activities, and enrichment opportunities.
  • Supervise all children and activities within program area
  • Be a positive role model for children every day.
  • Help ensure children's safety and well-being.
  • Support family communication and child check-in/check-out.
  • Assist with daily program setup, organization, and site operations.
  • Maintain materials, equipment, and program facility
  • Comply with state and local regulations as well as YMCA standards and procedures
  • Adhere to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards
  • Attend and participate in family events, program activities, and staff meetings as directed
  • Follow YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The full range of the pay for this position is: $20.88 -$34.32 / Hour
