Job summary

Diocese of San Jose is seeking an Extended Care Assistant to support TK/K-8 students before and after school. You will help supervise children, prepare activities, and create an engaging, safe environment under the supervision of the Principal and Extended Care Manager.

Qualifications

• High school diploma is required.
• Course credit in child development is preferred.
• Experience supervising children is required.
• Training to perform tasks assigned by the Principal or Extended Care Manager.
• Excellent written and oral communication in English; bilingual preferred.
• First Aid and CPR certification required.
• Proficiency with Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Google apps.
• Experience with SIS and Workday or willingness to learn.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing the Extended Care program as directed by the Principal and/or Extended Care Manager.
• Ensure a safe and healthy environment based on safety and behavioral standards of the school.
• Communicate effectively with students, parents, and other professionals as required.
• Comply with security procedures including attendance, headcount, pick-up and emergency procedures.
• Assist in preparing program materials as needed.
• Maintain current and accurate records according to policy.
• Collaborate with peers to enhance the work environment and program effectiveness.
• Assist in cleaning and organizing the room and equipment before, during and after the program.
• Maintain confidentiality over student and institutional information.
• Attend faculty and other meetings as needed.
• Support the mission of the Catholic Church and school.
