Healthy Kids Programs is hiring a School-Age Childcare Assistant for our Before and After School Programs at Horace W. Porter School in Columbia, CT for the 2026–2027 school year.

The role follows the school calendar with morning and/or afternoon sessions, offering part-time, non-exempt employment and an opportunity to contribute to child-centered programs. Earn $16.98 per hour with employer-paid childcare for enrolled children and a range of benefits.

Qualifications

• 18 years or older and hold a High School Diploma or equivalent.
• 1 year of experience working with kids under 13 preferred.
• Required health clearance, including TB screening, in accordance with state regulations.
• Must demonstrate a positive attitude, strong interpersonal skills, professionalism, and reliability.
• Physically able to bend, stretch, lift, and carry up to 50 pounds while actively engaging with children throughout the day.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate hands-on activities following the Healthy Kids Curriculum including fitness, STEAM, academic, art, and other group activities as well as homework completion.
• Provide a safe, healthy, and fun environment and act as a positive role model for children in the program.
• Observe state guidelines, Healthy Kids Extended Day Program policies, and host school policies.
• Support program operations, including attendance records, registration, and staffing responsibilities.
