Job summary

Bangor Region YMCA is seeking a Before & After School Assistant Teacher to support the Lead Teacher in delivering a safe, engaging program for school-age children from Pre-K through 6th grade.

Responsibilities include supervising children, planning age-appropriate activities, and ensuring safety and licensing compliance while modeling the YMCA's core values. The role offers competitive pay and benefits, including a free YMCA membership and PTO.

Qualifications

• At least 17 years of age.
• Previous experience working with children in a school-age program preferred.
• Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
• Previous experience with diverse populations. Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.
• Confidence in facilitating group activities with a wide range of developmental ages, backgrounds and experiences.

Our Before & After SchoolAssistant Teacher assists the Lead Teacher when offering a fun, safe, and inspirational program for school-age children in Pre-K through 6th grade who require before and after school care, and is dedicated to offering a quality Before & After School program. Our Assistant Teacher is a great communicator with both children and adults, and understands how critically important this mission-driven program is to helping school-age children succeed in life.

Before & After School Program Hours, Monday – Friday

• Before School Hours — 6:30 – 9:00am

We’re looking for a new team member who can:

• Be a positive role model for children in Pre-K through 6th grade.
• Be a reliable, and responsible team member.
• Supervise children, classrooms, and activities while encouraging intellectual, physical, and social/emotional growth for every child in a positive and empowering way.
• Ensure safety and state childcare licensing compliance.
