Job summary

The Odom Corporation is hiring a Draft Technician to repair and maintain draft lines on kegs and taps, serving general accounts and major venues. You will work events to ensure smooth operations and report to the Draft and Event Manager.

Pay range $23.00 - $27.00 per hour, depending on experience. No prior draft tech experience required, with opportunities to grow and learn in a dynamic beverage-service environment.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation.
  • DOT medical certification attainable.

Responsibilities

  • Discretion and independent judgment on draft service and events when dealing with customers.
  • Converse with customers to determine problems and provide service.
  • Repairs draft lines by inspecting equipment and locating trouble sources.
  • Dismantles taps and devices to access defective parts for replacement.
  • Maintains Jockey Boxes and keeps equipment clean.

This position also works events to ensure they run smoothly. This position reports to the Draft and Event Manager. Additional duties may be added as reasonably necessary by Odom from time to time.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Discretion and independent judgment on draft service and events when dealing with customers of Odom.
  • Converses with customers to determine any problems.
  • Part of customer base is large venues to include stadiums and ferry systems requiring excellent communication and service level.
  • Repairs draft lines by observing the mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of trouble.
  • Dismantles taps and devices to gain access to remove defective parts.
  • Examines form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
  • Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts such as taps, washers, hose/lines as necessary. Installs special functional and structural parts in devices.
  • Lubricates and cleans parts.
  • Starts devices to test their performance.
  • Keeps records on each account on any cleaning and repairing that has taken place.
  • Maintains Jockey Boxes, including cleaning.
  • Informs supervisor when parts are needed for repairs and other supplies.
  • Perform job duties in a safe manner; considerate to themselves and to others.
  • Execute major and small events the company participates in a manner representative to company values and supplier standards.
Job Requirements
  • No draft tech experience required!
  • High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.
  • Interest or experience in the beverage industry a plus.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, proof of insurance (SR-22 is not acceptable), and a reliable means of transportation for getting to and from customer accounts.
  • Must be able to obtain DOT Medical Certification.
  • Must have the visual abilities to ensure proper wiring and repair of the draft line.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule including some weekends and evenings.
  • Willingness to learn and take instruction.

  • Use of pallet jacks and hand carts are required to load and unload products for use in customer locations.
  • Frequently lift and/or move up to 10-25 pounds and moving/pushing or pulling of up to 165 pounds (full keg).
  • Required to regularly stand, walk, lift product floor to waist, shoulder to overhead, use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects tools or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear. Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance, stoop, kneel, or crouch.
