Job summary

Gibbon Packing, LLC, an American Foods Group Company, is seeking a QA sorter to conduct carcass and carcass part sorting and identify abnormalities. You will separate abnormal carcasses, heads, and viscera and present normal products to online inspectors.

Responsibilities include careful inspection, preparation cuts, and compliance with FSIS regulations, with training provided at hire and ongoing refreshers. This position requires attention to detail and willingness to train others.

Qualifications

• Demonstrated knowledge of food safety and quality.
• Strong attention to detail and observational skills.
• Knowledge of beef anatomy to recognize common parts of the beef carcass, skeleton, and digestive tract.

Responsibilities

• Observe, palpate, and incise carcass and carcass parts to determine if abnormalities exist.
• Perform preparation (e.g., cuts) and presentation activities.
• Follow FSIS regulations and company procedures (e.g., heads, tongues, viscera, carcass).
• Notify the proper person if you identify an animal or carcass suspected of a reportable or foreign animal disease.
• Attend training at hire and annual refresher training as needed.
• Must be willing to train and educate others.
• Be able to perform the QA sorter job.
