The Harvest Floor Manager is responsible for leading day-to-day operations on the harvest floor while maintaining a strong focus on employee safety, product quality, productivity, and regulatory compliance. This position requires strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills, along with a thorough understanding of meat processing operations and safety procedures. The manager must effectively lead employees, maintain performance standards, and promote a safe and productive work environment.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Train, coach, and develop employees to help them achieve high standards of quality, safety, and productivity in their assigned roles.
- Plan and schedule staffing, materials, product flow, and equipment to ensure efficient use of departmental resources and achievement of production goals.
- Manage employee performance by setting expectations, monitoring results, recognizing positive performance, and providing corrective feedback when necessary.
- Promote positive employee relations and company goodwill through proactive communication, employee involvement, and consistent application of company policies and procedures.
- Work cooperatively with other departments to identify opportunities for quality improvement, cost reduction, process improvement, yield control, and equipment maintenance.
- Monitor harvest floor operations and recommend improvements that increase efficiency, quality, safety, and productivity.
- Promote and enforce safe work practices throughout the department and ensure employees follow established safety procedures.
- Support compliance with company policies, food safety requirements, humane handling practices, and applicable regulatory standards.
BASIC SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS
- Three (3) or more years of previous supervisory or management experience.
- Food or meat processing industry experience preferred.
- Previous experience leading a workforce of 40 or more employees preferred.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to make sound, independent decisions in a fast-paced production environment.
- Basic computer skills.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Bilingual English/Spanish skills preferred.
- Ability to work assigned hours and days, including occasional weekends, as required by production needs.
EDUCATION
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
