Job summary

Vylor is seeking a Bee Biology Lead to establish and advance our bee research capabilities. This hands‑on scientific role will design, conduct, troubleshoot, and interpret research while building capabilities to support discovery programs.

You will lead the development of colony management, assays, and molecular approaches, mentoring staff and communicating progress to leadership and collaborators.

Qualifications

• Ph.D. or M.S. with substantial relevant research experience in entomology or related fields.
• Hands‑on experience maintaining and manipulating honey bees and colonies for research.
• Strong knowledge of honey bee biology, colony organization, health, and management.
• Ability to formulate hypotheses, design experiments, troubleshoot, analyze data, and draw defensible conclusions.

Responsibilities

• Establish and maintain research apiary, lab, and controlled‑environment capabilities.
• Design experiments addressing bee biology, health, physiology, behavior, and responses to variables.
• Develop and validate assays, protocols, and sampling methods for bees and colonies.
• Integrate molecular, organismal, and colony data to form clear conclusions and recommendations.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to research staff while staying hands‑on in experiments.
