Job summary

Carpenter Co. has immediate openings for a Material Handler on 2nd shift at our Mount Airy, NC manufacturing plant.

This position is responsible for assembling foam parts, assisting the machine operator with materials for the machines and maintaining the department in clean condition free of debris in our Bedding department. The successful candidate will communicate with department supervisors and production personnel, follow instructions, and maintain an organized, safety-focused work area.

Qualifications

• Must have basic reading, writing and math skills.
• Must have some computer experience and be able to use a computer in day-to-day operations.
• Must be able to read and interpret tape measure.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

Responsibilities

• Perform quality check by measuring material and ensuring it matches the label specification.
• Perimeter edge foam manufacturing and packaging.
• Wrap, seal, and label foam according to customer specifications and quantities.
• Print stock and shipping labels or enter production figures into SAP.
• Help perform routine simple maintenance on machinery.
• Use air blowgun for housekeeping purposes.
• Operate hot glue machine to seal packaging material.
• Keep work area clean and orderly; dispose of departmental waste.
