Job summary

Hartford HealthCare is seeking a Bed Manager to coordinate admissions and transfers, optimizing bed throughput across the system. The role requires nursing leadership, strong communication with physicians and nursing staff, and the ability to monitor capacity in real time.

Reporting to the Manager of Bed Management, you will guide clinical staff, collaborate with ED, PACU, and OR teams, and drive continuous improvements in patient placement and flow within Hartford HealthCare facilities.

Qualifications

• Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing; CT RN license.
• Minimum 3 years diversified clinical experience, preferably ICU/ED.
• Demonstrated ability to direct and triage in a dynamic hospital setting.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate admissions and transfers to optimize bed throughput across Hartford HealthCare.
• Communicate with physicians and nurses to ensure timely patient placement.
• Manage bed resources and monitor current and future capacity.
• Provide leadership and education to clinical staff on bed management processes.
• Collaborate with ED, PACU, OR, and Transfer Center leadership to resolve bottlenecks.
