General Summary & Scope

The Beauty Advisor (BA) is responsible for providing an exceptional experience for all Ulta Beauty guests by engaging each guest to determine their individual needs, conducting cashier tasks, keeping fixtures stocked with merchandise, maintaining overall store cleanliness, and completing tasks as assigned. The BA supports the leadership team through a focus on performance (service/retail sales and in-store events), people (guest service), and process (operating procedures and compliance standards). This position requires a passion for the beauty industry, exceptional guest service, and the aptitude to learn and communicate product knowledge.

Principal Duties & Responsibilities

The BA is a champion of Ulta Beauty’s mission, vision, and values, demonstrating them skillfully and consistently through:

Performance
  • Contributing to meeting or exceeding store goals related to retail and service sales, guest loyalty (including credit), omni-channel sales, and retail shrink.
  • Ensuring each guest receives exceptional service by greeting, engaging, personalizing service, answering questions, informing about promotions, and recommending products/services.
  • Handling customer service, sales, refunds, exchanges, and supporting online orders.
  • Performing makeup applications, skincare analysis, and product demonstrations to drive sales and enhance guest experience.
  • Booking appointments and supporting in-store events to deliver an outstanding guest experience while achieving sales targets.
  • Staying informed about new and existing products and services, understanding their ingredients and benefits.
  • Maintaining prompt, regular attendance.
People
  • Supporting an inclusive environment for teammates, peers, and guests.
  • Sharing the benefits of the loyalty program with guests.
  • Collaborating with managers and staff to grow the business.
  • Participating in ongoing training to enhance skills and sales performance.
Process
  • Ensuring compliance with company policies, procedures, and standards.
  • Adhering to dress code.
  • Keeping work areas replenished, signed, faced, and ensuring testers are available.
  • Maintaining store cleanliness and standards.
  • Participating in merchandise resets, planograms, displays, inventory, and shipment processing.
  • Following loss prevention practices and providing excellent guest service.
  • Executing other operational tasks as directed.
Job Qualifications
Education
  • High school diploma preferred.
Experience
  • 1 year of relevant work experience or equivalent preferred.
Skills
  • Passion for guest service and sales competency.
  • Proficiency with basic technology (e.g., POS systems, Apple devices).
  • Strong customer relationship skills.
  • Troubleshooting ability.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Special Position Requirements
  • Flexible schedule including days, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Working Conditions
  • Mobility throughout the store during shifts.
  • Frequent standing, bending, pulling, pushing, reaching, twisting.
  • Ability to lift up to 25 lbs. regularly.
  • Coordination and manipulation of objects.
