Job summary

SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory in Menlo Park, CA, seeks an outstanding Beamline Operations Engineer to provide technical support and oversight for the SSRL beamlines and equipment, and to design and prototype electro-optical-mechanical systems while developing user manuals.

You will collaborate with engineers and scientists, ensure safety compliance, assist visiting researchers, and contribute to commissioning and troubleshooting of synchrotron radiation beamlines.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, mechatronics, physics, chemistry or related field.
• Two years of technical experience in a laboratory or industrial environment.
• Design, development and prototyping of scientific or industrial equipment and systems.
• Operate and troubleshoot sophisticated electro-optical-mechanical and logic control systems.
• Collaborate with researchers and vendors.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop and prototype scientific or industrial equipment and systems.
• Serve as interface between user groups, experiment support groups and operations groups.
• Assist with installation, commissioning and troubleshooting of synchrotron radiation beam lines and associated subsystems.
• Monitor configuration control of beamline protection and personnel protection systems.
• Create and maintain technical documents and user manuals.
