Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is hiring an Assistant Beacon Director for the Rockaway YMCA in Queens, NY. You will help oversee the Beacon Center, supervise staff and volunteers, and drive afterschool, teen, and community programs aligned with DYCD guidelines.

You will manage program budgets, data reporting, and collaboration across branch teams. A Bachelor’s degree is required with 2–4 years of youth program leadership; CPR/First Aid/AED certification preferred, with strong multitasking and

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience developing and implementing youth programs and supervising staff.
• 3–5 years in group work counseling, crisis intervention, and proactive problem-solving preferred.
• Knowledge of youth/adolescent growth and development; ability to relate to teens as a positive adult role model.
• Experience in marketing and budgeting.
• Current CPR, First Aid, or AED certifications.
• Computer literate and able to multitask.
• Experience with SACC Licensing Procedures.

Responsibilities

• Hire, train, develop, and supervise staff and volunteers; provide orientation and professional development.
• Develop and supervise Beacon Center Programs focusing on physical, recreational, and educational needs.
• Monitor purchases and inventory of program equipment and supplies.
• Prepare and monitor program budgets, payroll, and related tasks.
• Participate in Beacon Program, Branch, and DYCD Directors meetings.
• Maintain registration, attendance, surveys, and input data in DYCDOnline.org and related systems.
• Participate in branch events and family activities.
• Organize special events and liaison with School Administration.
• Supervise Sub-Contracted Programs, Co-located Programs, Referral Linkage, and Reciprocal Agreements.
• Assist the Beacon Director in developing the DYCD Beacon Advisory Board.
