Job summary

The Town of Edgartown seeks an Assistant Beach Director to help manage daily operations, safety, and maintenance of town beaches and park facilities. This 40-hour/week role reports to the Beach Director and Parks Commission, involving field work, regulatory compliance, and staff supervision.

Applicants must have a Massachusetts driver’s license, a high school diploma or equivalent, and hands-on maintenance experience. The position includes public interaction and oversight of OSV access.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED, with supervisory experience.
• Valid U.S. Driver’s License.
• Experience with OSV access and beach operations is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Assist daily management, operation, and maintenance of town beaches and parks.
• Supervise seasonal staff and coordinate with Beach Director.
• Explain statutes and by-laws governing parking and beach access.
• Inspect beaches daily for safety and regulatory compliance.
• Assist with OSV corridor fencing installation/removal.
• Provide limited enforcement of beach rules as needed.
• Communicate with the public and town departments.
