Job summary

McGuireWoods is seeking a results-driven Business Development Manager to lead BD initiatives for Healthcare and Life Sciences across our New York, Chicago, Richmond, or DC offices. You will partner with lawyers to craft strategies, drive client targeting, and develop compelling messaging and materials while coordinating across offices to identify revenue opportunities.

The role supports a hybrid work model with flexibility and collaboration across departments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and at least five years of business development and/or marketing experience in a law firm or professional services.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and shifting priorities.
• Strong project management experience with conferences and events.
• Strategic thinker with branding and messaging experience.
• Self-starter capable of balancing long-term strategy with day-to-day execution.
• Experience with knowledge management tools (Foundation) is desirable.
• Tech-savvy with ability to learn new programs; interest in AI tools like Harvey and Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with attorneys to develop business plans and marketing strategies.
• Drive client targeting, pitches, RFP responses.
• Develop and maintain marketing collateral, bios, and experience samples.
• Manage conferences/seminars, webinars, and receptions.
• Client relationship management and account management.
• Budget planning and forecasting.
• Directory submissions and external/internal visibility (thought leadership, blogs, profile series).
