Job summary

JDC (The Joint) is seeking a deeply committed Senior Development Officer to serve as the Bay Area representative in the San Francisco Bay Area. This full‑time role drives JDC’s mission by pursuing strategic opportunities, stewarding major donors, and deepening partnerships with the Jewish Federation of the Bay Area.

Qualifications

• 10-15+ years of professional fundraising experience including substantial experience in closing five- and six-figure gifts (and ideally seven-figure gifts).
• Demonstrated success in raising funds for Jewish non-profits and working with donors in the Jewish community.
• Exceptional interpersonal, written, and verbal communication skills, including an intuitive ability to understand donor motivations and relate to their values.

Responsibilities

• Identify, research, engage, and cultivate a pipeline of major donors ($50K-$1M+) for JDC’s programs.
• Develop fundraising goals and metrics for individual and departmental success.
• Cultivate strategic funding relationships with lay leadership, including board members and federation trustees.
• Plan and execute donor engagement activities, from intimate briefings to large events, travel to the field, and both in-person and virtual briefings.
• Represent JDC’s global impact and tailor messaging to diverse philanthropic motivations.
