Mindlance in Cupertino seeks a Battery Thermal Engineer to advance thermal modeling across products. You will build state-of-the-art CFD/FE models of cells, packs and subsystems, and translate power maps into thermal outputs.

You'll run advanced CFD simulations, develop optimized workflows, and collaborate with CAE vendors to improve tools. Proficiency in AEDT and Icepak is required, along with Python scripting and a strong mechanical engineering background.

Qualifications

• MS/PhD in mechanical engineering, with at least 3 years of industry experience.
• Expert AEDT and Icepak experience is required.
• Strong CFD and thermal modeling fundamentals.

Responsabilités

• Conduct thermal modeling for battery cells, packs, and subsystems.
• Develop state-of-the-art thermal and multi-physics CFD/FE models.

Battery Thermal Engineer
Description:

• As a member of the Battery Modeling team, you will be responsible for Thermal modeling for all products.
• Develop of state of art Thermal as well as multi-physics finite volume (FE) models of cell, pack, and Client sub-systems.
• Generate models/capability to convert power map into thermal outputs.
• Perform advanced Thermal/CFD simulations to evaluate and enhance understanding of the various boundary conditions at the cell, pack, Client sub-systems around battery packs well as in system.
• Use best in class tools and solvers to generate the necessary simulation models and results.
• Develop optimized workflows and/or reusable templates for regularly required thermal simulations.
• Develop and implement thermal modeling best practices.
• Work with CAE vendors to drive the functionality improvements to better serve the CAE needs of the group.
• Explore new analysis types and solutions, including topological optimization.
• Extract Reduced Order Models (ROM) from CFD simulations to speed up the exploratory studies

Minimum Qualifications:

• MS/PhD 3 yrs industry experience
• Mechanical engineering background with strong foundation in CFD and thermal modeling
• [MUST HAVE] Expert level skillset related to Ansys electronic desktop (AEDT) and Icepak in AEDT
• Python or other scripting languages

Preferred Qualifications:

• MS/PhD 5 yrs relevant experience
• Familiarity in Cadence Allegro and electronics layout design
• Familiarity with li-ion cells and battery packs
• Familiarity with NX, Comsol
• Experience in electronics cooling
