Job summary

Base Power Company is seeking a Manufacturing Test Engineering Intern to gain hands-on experience building and validating automated test equipment for batteries and inverters in our Austin, TX facility.

You will troubleshoot faults, run tests on prototypes, log results, and help document setups. Ideal candidates are undergraduates/graduates in EE/CE with coding basics (Python/C/MATLAB) and lab tool familiarity.

Qualifications

• Pursuing undergraduate or graduate studies in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• Strong grasp of voltage, current, power and basic circuits.
• Hands-on problem solving and equipment troubleshooting.
• Some coding experience (Python, C, or MATLAB) and ability to read simple code.
• Experience with basic lab tools: multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes.
• Ability to present results clearly in charts or summaries.
• Desirable: exposure to LabVIEW, TestStand; familiarity with sensors, data acquisition, CAN bus, or power electronics; Linux/Windows CLI; hardware testing projects.

Responsibilities

• Build, wire, and set up automated test equipment for battery and inverter systems.
• Troubleshoot tester faults and track down causes.
• Run tests on prototype and production units and log results.
• Pull data from test runs and create charts/summaries showing tester performance.
• Document tester setup, calibration steps, and work instructions for technicians.
• Engage with production teams to feedback on line performance.
• Collaborate with engineers to implement small improvements that boost uptime and reduce test time.
