Job summary

Altora, Inc. in Ann Arbor, MI is seeking a Battery Technician to build power packs and related assemblies onsite. You will read schematics, follow drawings, and work with engineers to bring new designs from first articles to production.

Responsibilities include packing, testing, documentation, and safe handling of lithium cells; strong soldering and IPC readiness are valued. This role reports to Engineering and collaborates across shop teams.

Qualifications

• Three or more years building electromechanical or electrical assemblies.
• Battery pack experience preferred; other precise harness/assembly backgrounds welcomed.
• Ability to read schematics, wiring diagrams and BOMs.
• Solid hand soldering capability; IPC J-STD-001 is a plus (paid for if not certified).
• Experience with spot welding, crimping, potting, or insulation work on battery assemblies.
• Familiar with DMMs, power supplies, electronic loads, and battery cyclers.
• Record-keeping is essential; work independently when needed.

Responsibilities

• Pack build and assembly following drawings, BOMs, and releases.
• Prototype and first-article work with engineering on new designs.
• Test and verify capacity, impedance, and cycle performance.
• Document work; maintain serialization and traceability records.
• Safely handle, store, and dispose of lithium cells; maintain housekeeping.
• Support the shop with cable/harness work and general assembly.
