Job summary

Graphenix Development Inc. (GDI) in Rochester, NY, seeks a Battery Materials Engineer to advance silicon anode research and battery cell testing. You will operate lab equipment, construct cells, and perform materials characterization in a fast‑paced startup environment.

Reporting to a Senior Battery Materials Engineer, you will collaborate with internal and external partners, analyze data, document results, and contribute to IP and business development. Travel up to 30% may be required.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or MS in Physical Sciences preferred, or a BS with 2+ years relevant experience.
• Experience making and characterizing materials in a lab.
• Familiarity with SEM/EDS, TEM, XRD, TGA.

Responsibilities

• Operate and manage laboratory testing equipment including battery cycler systems.
• Construct coin/pouch cells for testing (up to 35% of workload).
• Provide engineering analysis on component impact on cell performance.
• Prepare summary reports and present results.
• Interact with collaborators inside and outside the organization.
• Support business development and IP portfolio expansion.

About Graphenix Development Inc. (GDI)

GDI is developing the next generation of energy storage, starting with advanced battery solutions for defense applications and expanding into other high-performance markets. Our 100% silicon anode technology is designed to deliver higher energy density, longer runtime, and faster charging capabilities that are especially important for demanding defense applications and, over time, a wide range of commercial uses. Educational Requirements:

Minimally BS in Engineering or MS in Physical Sciences with an emphasis on Energy Storage and/or Material Science preferred or, a BS in the Physical Sciences with 2+yearswork experience in a field relevant to the company’s activities

Experience/Skills Required:

• Extensive laboratory experience in both the making and characterization of materials.

• Fundamental chemical and/or mechanical engineering principles.

• Familiarity with material characterization such as SEM/EDS, TEM, XRD, TGA.

• Handling of hazardous materials and general laboratory safety best practices mandatory.

Experience/Skills Preferred:

• Battery cell construction and characterization; full and half cells,pouchand coin cell formats.

• Battery cycler programming.

• Electrochemical characterization techniques such as galvanostatic/potentiostaticcycling, cyclic voltammetry, and impedance spectroscopy.

• Basic understanding of the chemistry and operation oflithium-ionbatteries.

• Familiarity with CVD processes, cleanroom operations, glovebox operations, and dry room assembly environments.

Roles and Responsibilities:

• You will be reporting toa Senior Battery Materials Engineer.

• Operateand manageequipment for laboratory testing includingbattery cycler systems.

• Construction of coin/pouch cells for internal/external testing, for up to 35% of general workload.

• Provide engineering analysis for the impact of different components in battery cells on the overall performance.

• Prepare summary reports, communicate results in an effective way.

• Material characterization, engineering principles, basic statistics and analysis of data, independent learning.

• Assistand contribute to battery cell handling and testing procedures.

• Develop and implement system support process and documentation.

• Interact with existing and potential collaborators inside and outside of the organization.

• Support business development efforts as needed.

• Expand and protect the company’s intellectual property portfolio.

Location:

Rochester, NY.

Travel:

Some travel may berequiredwithin NYS (up to 20%), domestically (up to 25%) and internationally (up to 10%) annually, depending on Covid restrictions and safety requirements. Total travelnot to exceed30% annually. A valid driver's license and use of a personal vehicle may berequired.

Compensation:

Salary range is from $60,000 to $90,000 based upon relevant education and experience.

Position Classification:

This position is classified as exempt per NYS guidelines.
As a start-up company, the expectation is to work aminimumof 40 hours per week as necessary to complete job responsibilities.
