Job summary

General Motors is seeking a Battery Lab Test Systems Engineer to own and standardize software backbones for multiple battery labs (GBSL, WBCIC, RWC) in Warren, MI. You’ll manage the lab software stack, automation toolchains, and analytics pipelines to enable safe, efficient testing across 100+ test beds.

The role focuses on end-to-end ownership of deployment pipelines, Windows test fleets, and enterprise tooling, with onsite collaboration with lab operations and IT.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical/Computer Engineering or related field.
• 2–7 years of software engineering, DevOps, or backend systems experience in production or tests.
• Proficient in at least one high-level language: C, C++, C#, Java, Python.
• Experience managing Windows-based test PCs in enterprise or lab environments.
• Experience with Git/GitHub and CI/CD tooling.
• Ability to build automation/tools to improve deployment, configuration management, or reliability.

Responsibilities

• Support testing PC builds, software config, and deployments across GBSL/WBCIC/RWC with DevOps.
• Maintain software environments on critical test PCs, coordinating OS and security updates.
• Own lifecycle management for key test systems including version control and migrations.
• Own the metrics pipeline across Influx, Telegraf, Grafana, and test automation systems.
• Support and maintain LSIE’s test automation toolchain for daily lab operations.
• Plan and execute software/infrastructure changes affecting labs, including migrations.
• Provide advanced troubleshooting and escalation support for software issues.
