Job summary

Delart is seeking a Battery Failure Analysis Engineer to operate and maintain a CT scan system for analyzing battery cells, modules, and packs. You will translate imaging results into actionable insights for design, quality, and validation teams.

You will work in a lab environment, ensure safety protocols, and collaborate with cell manufacturing and battery design groups to support root-cause investigations across different chemistries and form factors. Salary range is shown above.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science, Mechanical, Chemical Engineering, or related field.
• 5+ years of battery failure analysis with knowledge of cell design.
• Deep understanding of cell manufacturing processes (coating, calendaring, winding/stacking, electrolyte filling, formation).
• Experience operating and interpreting CT/X-ray inspection systems for battery analysis.

Responsibilities

• Operate CT scan equipment for cells, modules, and packs; manage sample prep and lab scheduling.
• Interpret 2D/3D CT images to identify defects like electrode misalignment, swelling, and welding issues.
• Prepare detailed failure analysis reports with annotated images and conclusions for cross-functional teams.
• Conduct battery teardowns and related failures in dry room or glovebox with proper safety.
• Maintain CT calibration and coordinate with vendors for service or repairs.
• Ensure compliance with radiation, laser, and battery safety standards during CT operation.
• Support validation activities by correlating CT imaging with electrical, thermal, and mechanical data.
