Job summary

BorgWarner seeks an UL Certification Engineer to lead certification activities for energy storage products from concept to launch. You will coordinate with UL and other bodies, translate standards into engineering requirements, and drive compliance across hardware, software, and safety domains.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering, you will develop certification roadmaps, maintain documentation, and support audits while collaborating with engineering, quality, and product management

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field.
• 5+ years in product certification, compliance engineering, or functional safety.
• Experience with UL, TÜV, or other recognized certification organizations.
• Strong communication and cross-functional collaboration.
• Knowledge of standards such as UL 1973, UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1998, IEC 61508.

Responsibilities

• Lead product certification activities for battery and energy storage products with certification plans.
• Serve as primary technical liaison with UL and other regulatory bodies.
• Interpret standards and translate into engineering and compliance requirements.
• Collaborate with engineering to integrate compliance and safety throughout development.
• Develop and maintain certification documentation and traceability records.
• Coordinate testing activities, witness testing, audits, and findings resolution.
• Support safety analyses, risk assessments, and functional safety activities.
• Provide guidance on product compliance, safety, and certification to cross-functional teams.
• Support audits with accurate compliance documentation and drive process improvements.
