Job summary

Base is seeking a Compliance Engineer to own the regulatory path for battery, grid-connected devices, and solar products from design through full certification and market launch. You will drive compliance strategy, partner with hardware, firmware, and systems teams, and represent Base with NRTLs and standards bodies.

You will interpret standards like UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 1973, IEEE 1547, and NEC, drafting requirements, coordinating tests, and shaping the product roadmap with regulatory

Qualifications

  • Proven experience taking a grid-tied system from concept through full regulatory certification.
  • Deep familiarity with UL 1741, UL 9540, UL 9540A, UL 1973, and IEEE 1547.
  • In-depth understanding of NEC as it applies to energy storage systems and DERs.
  • Strong technical communication skills to translate regulatory language into engineering requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Own and lead Base’s relationships with standards bodies and NRTLs to avoid bottlenecks.
  • Define and communicate certification requirements to engineering teams early in design.
  • Interpret and apply standards to battery, inverter, and solar products.
  • Plan, coordinate, and execute hardware evaluation, testing, and certification activities.
  • Track regulatory changes and advocate for Base in standards meetings.
  • Review hardware and system designs for regulatory compliance.
  • Document compliance processes, findings, and gaps for audit readiness.
  • Partner with firmware to ensure software supports compliance.
  • Be the internal expert for NEC and UL considerations across product development.

Education

Bachelor or equivalent in Electrical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering
