Job summary

SpaceX in Hawthorne, CA, is seeking a Development Test Engineer, Battery (Starship Electronics) to characterize and qualify battery cell technologies for Starship vehicles. You will work with inverter and battery design teams to determine operating environments and push cells to failure in controlled tests, including electrical tests like EIS and thermal runaway scenarios.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, electrical engineering, or an engineering discipline.
• 1+ years of electronic hardware or software development experience.
• 1+ years of programming with Python, MATLAB, or Embedded C/C++.
• Willingness to work extended hours and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Create test stand concepts, fabrication drawings, wiring schematics, and instrumentation lists.
• Write automation and analysis software to collect and interpret data from setups.
• Supervise the integration of test stands including fabrication, mechanical assembly, and data/control systems.
• Operate test stands with meticulous attention to detail.
• Work with REs to understand hardware operation parameters.
• Collaborate with design, manufacturing, and test lab teams to drive reliability.
