Job summary

MAPT in Rhode Island is seeking a hands-on Applications Engineer to translate customer power needs into practical battery-system solutions. You will bridge customers and our engineering team from discovery through prototype integration and field trials.

You will lead technical discussions, define system requirements, review electrical interfaces, and troubleshoot at the bench with electrical, mechanical, firmware, and manufacturing colleagues to ensure the complete system meets the customer's

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical/Electronics/Mechatronics or equivalent.
• Experience in applications engineering, systems integration, or battery systems.
• Knowledge of DC electrical systems and interfaces.
• Ability to read electrical schematics and wiring diagrams.
• Hands-on experience with electrical hardware integration and testing.
• Proficiency with lab equipment.
• Ability to translate customer needs into engineering requirements.
• Strong technical communication and credibility with engineers.
• Methodical problem-solving and documentation.
• Judgment on when to escalate to a specialist.

Responsibilities

• Lead technical discovery with customer teams to understand platform requirements.
• Define voltage, current, power, energy, runtime, and charging needs.
• Capture interfaces, environmental conditions, safety requirements, and life.
• Turn ambiguous requests into documented requirements and acceptance criteria.
• Evaluate battery-system configurations with the engineering team.
• Prepare specifications, diagrams, and inputs for proposals.
• Support integration, testing, and troubleshooting on prototypes.
• Document results and coordinate issue resolution with engineers.
• Provide technical support during evaluations and field trials.
• Translate feedback into actionable engineering requirements.
