Job summary

Joplin Concrete Company is hiring a Batchman to batch ready-mix concrete in a timely fashion, order materials, and keep the plant stocked. The Batchman will coordinate daily with Dispatch and follow directions from the General Manager to ensure product quality and consistency.

This role involves operating a wheel loader, preparing value-added products like fiber and color, testing concrete and aggregates, and performing preventive maintenance on the plant and equipment.

Qualifications

• Read, write, and speak English sufficiently for safety rules and instructions.
• Basic computer skills for batching concrete.
• Ability to work long hours including early mornings, nights, and weekends.
• CDL not required for hire; CDL holders must meet DOT requirements.

Responsibilities

• Batch ready-mix orders efficiently following mix designs and job specs.
• Coordinate with Dispatch to adjust truck demand and schedule.
• Perform opening/closing procedures for the batch plant and equipment.
• Operate wheel loader to stock the batch plant with raw materials.
• Order raw materials per upcoming production schedule.
• Prepare value-added products (fiber, color) for production.
• Test and record concrete and aggregate results as scheduled.
• Perform preventive maintenance and repairs on batch plant/equipment.
• Assist in facility maintenance and safety tasks when idle.
• Occasionally drive ready-mix or dump trucks if CDL is held and qualified.
• Travel to other Joplin Concrete plants to batch or help with production.
