Job summary

Indiana University Bloomington's Jacobs School of Music seeks an Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor of Music (Bassoon) for a tenure or tenure-track appointment. The ideal candidate will be nationally and internationally recognized as a performer and pedagogue in bassoon performance.

Responsibilities include building a bassoon studio, teaching studio and reed making classes, coaching chamber ensembles, and participating in recruitment, auditions, and various committees.

Qualifications

• Master’s degree in music is required, or an equivalent of outstanding professional experience will be considered.
• Established or growing reputation with broad professional experience in bassoon performance and pedagogy.
• Ability to work effectively with gifted and advanced university-level students.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain a studio of undergraduate- and graduate-level bassoon students.
• Teach studio classes and reed making classes.
• Coach chamber ensembles.
• Participate in recruitment activities and auditions, doctoral committees, and recital hearing committees.
• Contribute to departmental activities such as faculty recitals and outreach programs.
