Job summary

The New Orleans JCC is seeking a friendly and knowledgeable basketball referee to officiate in YABL – 5 on 5 full court on Mondays and mellow ball – 3 on 3 or 4 on 4 half court on Wednesdays.

The JCC is looking for Mondays and Wednesdays evenings, 6-9 pm, with emphasis on safety, control, and professional conduct during games.

Qualifications

• Must know basketball rules and modified JCC rules.
• Ability to communicate with players and statistician to start games promptly.
• Must be able to run for extended periods and stay calm under pressure.

Responsibilities

• Officiate games to keep participants safe and games controlled.
• Maintain professionalism and serve as a role model.
• Open communication with participants to ensure timely game starts.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: ● Expected to keep everyone safe and the games controlled ● Maintain professionalism and serve as role models ● Must wear referee jerseys when working a game ● Open communication with the participants to ensure games start in a timely manner. ● Must have neutral opinion when officiating games## QualificationsEducation and/or Work Experience Requirements: ● Must have familiarity with the basketball rules and the modified rules used by the JCC ● Must be able to communicate with players/statistician to get games started promptly ● Must be able to run for extended amounts of time ● Must be able to communicate schedule conflicts with supervisor ● Must be able to remain calm in a stressful competitive atmosphere ● Lead by example; follow all NOJCC policies and procedures as defined in the NOJCC Handbook and as directed by Agency leadership. ● Basic awareness of Judaism and Jewish cultural norms and traditions
