Job summary

Cottonwood Heights Parks and Recreation Service Area is seeking a JR JAZZ BASKETBALL REF & TIMEKEEPER for part-time, non-seasonal roles with flexible hours. Duties include setting up equipment, checking in teams, timekeeping, and officiating games to ensure smooth court operation.

Must be at least 14 years old with a basic understanding of basketball rules and good public relations. The role emphasizes safety, first aid handling, and assisting on-site supervisors as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 14 years old.
• Good understanding of general basketball rules & gameplay preferred, but not required.
• Tact and good public relations skills.

Responsibilities

• Set up and takedown of basketball equipment.
• Check-in teams and coaches; help direct patrons to their scheduled courts.
• Set up and take down time clock.
• Track time and scoring.
• Use buzzer to identify start & end times.
• Officiate games and facilitate gameplay.
• Ability to call out penalties, down and distant, and communicate with coaches in general.
• Enforce established safety rules and policies.
• Handle accidents appropriately; apply necessary first aid and complete accident reports.
• Assist on-site supervisors as assigned.
• Assist in keeping playing areas clean and presentable.

PAY RANGE/WORKING CONDITIONS: $10.93 + per hour DOE; Part time, non-seasonal and seasonal positions that have flexible schedules.
