The University of Maryland Baltimore - School of Medicine - Department of Pharmacology and Physiology seeks an Administrator.
This is a leadership role responsible for the strategic financial management, operational oversight, and regulatory compliance of the department. This position provides management of grants, contracts, pre- and post-award activity on sponsored research, foundation and state supported funding. The ideal candidate will be responsible for leading a team to manage and execute all departmental activities.
UMB is a public university and constituent institution of the University System of Maryland. All employees are expected to work primarily physically within the State of Maryland.
Qualifications
Experience:Nine (9) years of experience in administrative and financial operations with at least three (3) years experience in basic science or clinical research environment. At least two (2) years in a basic science department preferred.
Preferred Experience:Demonstrated experience in accounting, budgeting, auditing, assessment of internal controls, or financial analysis experience in a college or university environment in a management position.
Supervisory Experience:Three (3) years of direct management involved in recruitment, training, and professional development of staff.
Preferred Certification/Licensure:Certified Research Administrator.
Other:Financial disclosure reporting required by State of Maryland Ethics Commission.
Completion of a 12 credit Research Administration graduate certificate program can be considered as the equivalent of one (1) year of relevant research administration work experience.
Except for qualifications established by law, additional related experience and formal education in which one has gained the knowledge, skills, and abilities required for full performance of the work of the job class may be substituted for the education or experience requirement on a year-for-year basis with 30 undergraduate college credits being equivalent to one year of related experience. In instances where specific education and/or experience is required only directly related education and/or experience may be substituted.

HIRING RANGE: $140,000 - $154,000 per year / Commensurate with education and experience
