Baseband Hardware Design Engineer

Summary

Apple is seeking a skilled Baseband Hardware Design Engineer to join our team in Austin, Texas. In this role, you will be responsible for the architecture, design, implementation, and integration of baseband systems for all Apple products. The ideal candidate has a strong background in computer system architecture and digital design, and is proactive in collaborating with cross-functional teams.

Role Description

This position involves working within Apple's Hardware Technology group, focusing on the digital and power management domains of wireless chipsets from concept to product launch. Responsibilities include working with architects and IC designers during the architectural phase, driving schematics, layout, and hardware bring-up during development, and debugging HW/SW issues that arise during production. International travel may be required.

Minimum Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering (BSEE) and 3+ years of relevant industry experience
2. Strong fundamentals in electrical engineering
3. Experience with schematic capture, layout design, and review
4. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills

Preferred Qualifications

1. Experience with mobile platform system design and high-volume consumer electronics
2. Knowledge of voltage regulators, LDOs, and switch-mode power supplies (SMPS)
3. Experience with high-speed and low-speed digital interfaces such as PCIe, SPMI, I2C, UART
4. Bench-level design verification experience using high-speed oscilloscopes
5. Signal and power integrity simulation experience with tools like Matlab, PowerSI, SIwave, HFSS
