Regional Base Safety Coordinator

This position is for MHR, SAC, SMF


Primary Purpose of the Position

Manage the Safety Management System (SMS) in compliance with company and local SMS policies, industry standards, and state and federal regulations. Promote a proactive and preventative safety culture in coordination with the General Manager(s) and Regional Vice President. Participate in implementing safety programs, training, quality control, IAP, and other initiatives of the Health, Safety, and Environmental Department and the company.


Essential Functions


In addition to the job functions of a Line Service Technician, the Base Safety Coordinator is responsible for the following:



  • Review and process Safety Reports in compliance with company standards and policies.



  • Review and update Safety Report risk scores, categorizations, corrective actions, and complete assurance checks, as applicable.



  • Participate in root cause analysis and incident investigations



  • Coordinate and lead Monthly Safety Committee Meetings reviewing Safety Objectives, SPIs, and other monitored items.



  • Monitor Internal Audit Program (IAP). Review audits, audit findings, and report stats required per Safety Objectives.



  • Understanding of company policies and procedures and industry standards and regulations



  • Assist in administering comprehensive team training utilizing computer-based training and internal OJT training in conformance with company policies and procedures.



  • Assist in monitoring and documenting new hires' progression in the various stages of learning, and recurrent training to all employees.



  • Understand QC standards and regulations, track performance, and review records.



  • Prepare and participate in third-party audits, track findings, and close corrective actions.



  • Champion compliance with rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of the company and industry.



  • Ensure full compliance with all rules, regulations, policies and procedures of the company and industry.



  • Perform administrative tasks, and projects as needed. Will be required to meet with the Director of Safety and other members of the management staff to monitor employee progress and plan improvements.



  • Work independently with minimal supervision to complete tasks.



  • Manages time and responsibilities between multiple roles.



  • Maintain a professional, well-groomed appearance in accordance with company policy.



  • Strong analytical and problem-solving ability.



Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications




  • Two years minimum previous experience in ramp operations and aircraft servicing.



  • Excellent organizational skills, ability to multi-task, proficient in attention to detail,



  • Must demonstrate proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (i.e., Outlook, Word, and Excel).



  • Ability to diagnose needs and find solutions, maintaining a high level of confidentiality in sensitive matters.



  • Must hold a valid State Driver's License



  • May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays so will need to be willing and able to do this when required.

Supervisory Responsibility: This job has no direct supervisory responsibilities


FLSA Status: This position is nonexempt.


Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including extreme heat and cold; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions and vibration; chemicals including aviation fuels, oils, and lavatory fluid. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.


Travel: This position requires limited travel.


Physical Requirements: Physically able to perform frequent walking, sitting, stooping, stretching, bending, reaching, and grasping actions. Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may be exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions including extreme heat and cold. The noise level in the work environment is occasionally loud. May be required to work nights, weekends, and holidays.
