Job description

Are you the engineer who turns specs into rock-solid BAS designs?

Picture this: A new commercial project lands on your desk. The scope is ambitious, the budget is set, and the schedule is tight. You map the network, draft the SOOs, and deliver submittals so clear the field team can build from them without a doubt. If this sounds like your kind of challenge, Airco Mechanical - an MEP leader for 40+ years with 1,000+ teammates—wants to meet you.

Your mission
  • Own Building Automation Controls design that aligns precisely with scope and budget while ensuring equipment compatibility.
  • Deliver end-to-end BAS submittal packages: detailed riser diagrams, resilient network architecture, and physical point-to-point wiring schematics for HVAC and electrical systems.
  • Author and validate Sequences of Operations (SOO) and confirm they meet system requirements.
  • Produce complete Bills of Material and professional engineered documents using AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio (CDT).
  • Engineer BAS solutions including load calculations, equipment selection, and multi-system integration.
  • Back the Sales team during estimation/bid with technical design input.
  • Team with Project Managers to generate RFIs; spot discrepancies in plans/specs early and resolve them.
  • Integrate controls using BACnet MSTP/IP, Modbus TCP/RTU, and LonWorks.
  • Keep immaculate records of design decisions, wiring diagrams, and software configurations.
  • Work independently with minimal supervision and lead large projects using standard tools, products, and practices.
  • Forecast and monitor your design labor to meet budget and forecast objectives.
  • Coordinate with customers and vendors to keep engineering accurate and on time.
  • Help manage project timeline, budget, and cross‑discipline coordination.
  • Recommend new products that lift functionality and value; support service engineering on existing building systems.
  • When assigned, develop and curate engineering standards libraries for both Bosch Building Technologies and the industry.
  • Other duties as assigned.
What you know
  • HVAC systems end-to-end: unitary (RTUs, FCUs, VAVs), large air systems (AHUs, DOAS, MUA), hydronic systems incl. valve sizing, chiller plants (air- and water-coolled), cooling towers, and boiler plants with heat exchangers.
  • AutoCAD and Microsoft Visio (CDT) for drafting and documentation.
  • Best practices for producing field-ready documentation.
Bonus points
  • 2+ years programming with Tridium/Niagara, Spyder tool, EIKON, EC-gfxProgram, and/or Controller Configuration Tool.
  • History proposing cost-effective technical approaches.
  • Experience building/maintaining internal standards, libraries, or design/engineering best practices.
  • Background spanning both design and support/service engineering for installed systems.
What’s in it for you
  • Two weeks paid vacation in your first year
  • Paid holidays and sick leave
  • Excellent health, vision, and dental insurance with low employee cost
  • Life insurance (2× salary paid by company)
  • Short-term and long-term disability insurance (company-paid)
  • Accidental death and dismemberment insurance
  • Optional additional life insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Health Savings Accounts
  • Teladoc
  • Employee Assistance Program
  • Tuition reimbursement
